Marquee Assembly

Corporate and venue events

Marquees for UK corporate events, hospitality and venues: launches, staff parties and seasonal overflow space on lawns or hard standing.

In short: Corporate and venue marquees provide temporary event space for product launches, hospitality, staff parties and conferences, and extra capacity for hotels, pubs and wedding venues. They suit businesses and venues that need branded or extended space without building permanently. In the UK, corporate event marquees typically cost from about £1,500 for a small reception to £10,000 or more for large, fully fitted structures.

Corporate events usually come with tighter constraints than private parties. The structure may need to sit on a car park, a hotel terrace or a lawn that has to look perfect the following week. Build and take-down often have to fit around business hours, deliveries and other guests, and the event itself may have a fixed start time with VIPs, press or clients arriving to the minute.

Venues use marquees in a different way again, often keeping a structure up for a season to add covered capacity for weddings, functions and summer trade. That brings longer-term questions about planning permission, fire risk assessment and how the structure copes with autumn weather. Each brief starts with the site, the use and how long the marquee needs to stay.

How much does it cost?

As a guide, a small corporate reception marquee in the UK usually starts around £1,500, while fully fitted structures for 200 or more guests with hard flooring, glass walls and heating often cost £10,000 or more. Seasonal venue hires are usually priced per week or per season. See our full cost guide.

How it works

  1. Brief and survey

Share the event type, numbers, timings and site, then the ground, access and services are surveyed.

  2. Design and paperwork

A layout is agreed, and the structure details and fabric certificates are provided for your event safety and fire risk paperwork.

  3. Build around operations

The structure is built in an agreed window, then fitted out with flooring, walls, lighting and power.

  4. Handover and removal

The structure is handed over and signed off before the event, then removed to the agreed schedule.

Corporate and venue events: FAQs

Can a marquee be put up on a car park?

Yes. Frame and clearspan marquees are often installed on tarmac or concrete, fixed with steel or concrete ballast weights calculated for the structure, or with drilled anchors where the owner agrees. Check the car park drains well, that the marquee does not block fire routes or access for emergency vehicles, and that you can manage without the parking spaces during build and take-down.

Do we need a fire risk assessment for a corporate marquee?

For most business and public events in England and Wales, yes. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires a fire risk assessment for non-domestic premises, which includes a marquee used for a business event. It covers exits, emergency lighting, fire-fighting equipment, heaters, cooking and occupancy. Scotland and Northern Ireland have equivalent fire safety laws.

Can a venue keep a marquee up all season?

Many do, but it needs more thought than a weekend hire. A structure up for months may need planning permission, as the usual temporary use allowance is limited, and listed or conservation settings add restrictions. You also need a plan for inspections, wind and storms, heating, drainage and how the lawn will recover. Check with your local planning authority early.

Can marquees be branded?

Yes. Branding is commonly added with printed banners, entrance canopies, gable-end panels and printed flooring or carpet, rather than printing directly onto the roof fabric. Lighting can also be used to wash interiors in brand colours. Give artwork plenty of lead time, and check printed materials are flame-retardant if they go inside the structure.
